imageCLASS MF753Cdw not scanning

Hello- I have a Canon Imageclass MF753Cdw that I can not for the life of me get to work for scanning.  I have a MacBook Pro and MacOS is Tahoe 26.3.1.  I downloaded the correct drivers and the printer will print from my Macbook but when I try to use the MF Scan Utility or the MFToolbox it can not add the printer for scanning.  I've attached a screen shot of what it looks like when I try to add it by using Bonjour.  I've also tried using the IP address but when I do that I get a message saying there are not printers. Anyone have any ideas?? I've  turned the MacBook and Printer off and then on again, uninstalled the drivers and re-installed (multiple times), and done everrything that I can find online that I've been able to find for troubleshooting.  The last time I tried to install the scan driver, the sytem detected Catalina as the MacOS even though I have Tahoe so I tried that driver, but it didn't work either.  It should be noted that the scan feature worked for most of the time I've had this printer, but one day it just stopped working- not sure if it correlated to a new MacOS or if it had to do with a new MacBook that I got.  Either way I can't get it to add now.  Any help is GREATLY appreciated- I'm at a loss at this point as to what to do next.

Thanks!Image 3-23-26 at 1.05 PM.png

I don't have your particular printer, but instead the imageCLASS MF653Cdw. For scanning, I've never used Canon's scan utility (don't know if it would even work), but instead use Apple's Preview application.

In Preview the "File" menu has an "Import from Canon MF650C Series…" item.

Does Preview work for you?

I'm fairly tech savvy but I don't know where preview is nor do I understand what you are saying-sorry.

Preview is a built-in application that comes already installed on your Mac. You can find it by any of the following:

  1. It should be in the Dock (bottom of screen row of icons). See attached icon below.
  2. In Finder, navigate to your Applications folder and find the Preview application
  3. In the Dock, click on the Apps icon. Preview is listed in the Productivity and Finance section.
  4. Command-Space in Finder, then type in "Preview"

preview doesn't work for me- thanks for the suggestion though.

Greetings,

Using Bonjour is not reliable and will not give you full control or functionality of your device.

Can you please confirm the connection message you're using?  USB, wireless, ethernet?

Their are printer and scanner drivers available for Tahoe on the product support portal.

If you are using a network connection, I suggest that you assign the printer or static IP on your router.  Then install it as a TCP IP device on your Mac.

If you were using USB, you should install the drivers first, and not connect the printer until prompted to do so by the installation utility.

If you need assistance with the above steps or have questions please reply.  This KB article I wrote maybe helpful.

Hi Rick-

I'm still struggling with this issue.  Here are the answers to your questions:

Can you please confirm the connection message you're using?  USB, wireless, ethernet?  Wireless Internet

I've downloaded the Tahoe drivers- two or three times now after deleting them multiple times- I've tried everything I know how to do and my tech savvy kids know how to do...

I'm not sure how to assign the printer on my router or do any of that.  I tried to read the article but get an "Access Denied" message.

This is beyond frustrating and I'm not sure where to go from here.

Thanks for your help.

Betsy
