canon mf733cdw phantom print jobs

I have a canon mf733cdw connected via wifi with a static ip.  Every time I try to use it I have to manually clear out 15-20 phantom print jobs that appear and get stuck in queue only on the machine.  They don't appear in the "what's printing" dialog box and I have not found a way to clear them out from my computer.  I'm the only person that uses this printer and I don't print often.  Has anyone seen this type of issue before?

Hello,

The issue that you are describing looks a bit unique. We would be happy to assist with the issue. To provide some feedback or some troubleshooting steps, we would need some additional information. If you could reply to this message with the information below, we can provide some assistance. For a more immediate resolution, you can contact support over the phone. Our agents can check to see where the jobs might be stored/coming from.

  1. What version of the Mac or Windows operating system are you using on your computer?
  2. Are the jobs always the same or do the print jobs change?

I'm using Windows 10 pro version 22h2 OS build 19045.3930.  attached are pictures of the phantom print jobs and errors I get. The times change but everything else is the same each time.20240110_193848.jpg20240110_193815.jpg20240110_193834.jpg I know the error 822 is for corrupt/not supported file however I have not attempted to print/copy or scan anything since I turned it on.  It was left off for a week or so before I turned it on.  I show no print jobs waiting on my computer and I'm the only person using a computer or the printer so I know there was no print/copy job attempted.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the exact same issues, phantom jobs showing up on printer but not showing up on printer queue in settings. Exact same scenario listed above, have to manually clear them out so i can print off what i need.

Hoping you can share any info that addresses this, I have tried reinstalling drivers and updates without any success.

Sorry, Canonuser21 - I still have not found a solution nor have I received one from Canon support.

Greetings,

This is an interesting, but very a frustrating phenomenon for both of you, I'm sure.

@Cheryl929803.  You posted 10/2023 and then didn't post again for 3 months. Did you contact Canon Support?  What was the outcome?

The first thing you need to do is try to isolate the behavior.  Is this originating from the printer, or something on your environment?

One random question.  Do you have a Fax configured or phone line connected?

Start by verifying and if needed updating to the latest firmware available for the device.  If the printer has an internet connection, you can do this from the control panel.  Clear the queue, restart the device and perform the firmware check/update.

Once this is done, I would disconnect the printer from the network and allow it to sit idle.  Check it after a short period of time and see if random jobs are appearing in the queue.  If yes, you know there is a firmware or hardware issue.  At that point I'd contact Canon. The printer has a 3-year warranty.

If not, reconnect to the device to the network.  Do not connect, turn on or use a computer.  Once again monitor the queue and see if jobs appear randomly.  More details about your network might help.  The ISP,  type of hardware and the details about the configuration being used.

Now add the computer.  You mentioned windows 10, 22H2.  Installed software?  What drivers did you download and install for the printer?  If there are other details about software that might be trying to communicate with the printer that might also be helpful.

@Canonuser21.  It's difficult to provide support to multiple users in the same thread.  While your issue shares a similar behavior, the environments can be quite different, operating system, connection type, software, etc. Results vary and then things get challenging (difficult to provide support and details) .  It would be best for you to start your own thread with the information specific to your environment and circumstances.
