Maxify MB5320 printing issues

Good day -

I am having trouble getting an older MB5320 to print well - specifically in black.

The unit was out of service for a few months during a move, and when it was put back into service the printing of anything black, most importantly text, is not printing well at all.

Ink cartridges show plenty of ink, almost none used.

After cleaning, printing the nozzle test pattern shows colors are fine, but black is still cutting off part of the text, specifically the lower half of letters

Attempting to deep clean creates an error 5200.

Automatic printer head alignment does not fix the problem, and printing the grid to allow for manual head alignment doesn't work since the black text is missing from the grid, so there is no way to tell which values should be input to align the printhead.

Are there printheads for the MB5320 that can be purchased and replaced, or is this a non-replaceable item?

Any help appreciated -

Sean McCann

Hello Stmccann,

The error points to a problem with the hardware. The print head in the MB5320 is not a replaceable item in the printer. If you are getting a 5200 error, it would mean that the print head is damaged or there is a problem with the ink supply. In this situation, you can try regular cleanings so the level for the black ink goes down and you can try replacing the tank. If that's does not resolve the issue, it does look like the printer needs service. To check you available service options, you can use the HERE to access your Canon account or you can contact support at 1-800-652-2666.
