I am operating on a Windows 11 system, connected via wifi.
I had issues with my printing & scanning ... I have no idea how I resolved it. But it has happened again, I deleted all the drivers and reinstalled them. I can print, but cannot scan. When looking for the printer/scanner with the ip address it cannot be found. I have NEVER had this issue with the old HP printer I had ... I am ready to throw this less than 2 month old printer in the trash!

I have had a few Canon printers in the past and never had an issue. They just worked. I have a MF656Cdw as well and it worked great via a wireless connection when I had Windows 10 (printing and scanning). I recently built a new PC with Windows 11 and now the printer will not scan via a wireless connection either. It prints just fine but the Canon MF Scan Utility software states "Cannot communicate with the scanner. The cable may be disconnected, or the scanner may be turned off. Check the scanner status and try again. Scanner driver will be terminated". I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and other software to no avail. Windows states all is well with the printer and scanner as well. I am at a loss as well. Going to see if I can retrieve the CD that came with the printer and try installing the drivers and software from that instead of online like I did on this new PC.

I am reading many issues with the Canon MF656cdw Scanner Issues. Spectrum Cable eliminated their 2.4 GHZ Bandwidth & 5-G Bandwidth and required their new customers to "UPGRADE" to a Higher Speed Moden w/a Spectrum Router. I NEVER had a problem with the Spectrum "OLD" combination Modem/Router (2.4 & 5-G). Now, my ROKU internal security cameras cannot connect to Spectrum's so-called "UPGRADE." One of Spectrum technicians informed me a few days ago that this was done deliberately by Spectrum Management to CUT COSTS... in Terms of Service Costs, etc. There is definitely something wrong. Even Amazon has been alerted to their recent promotion of ROKU security camera's. I have been advised that they are looking into this Fiasco and has advised me to simply return the cameras, although very nice, nice is just not good enough, if SPECTRUM CABLE has caused a connectivity issue, one which I believe is to blame, until proven otherwise. Incidentally, because of the cost of my CANON 656 and it NOT performing the way it should, why bother? In fact, my old Canon Pixma MX 922 (a true workhorse) came with a DVD to update drivers, connectivity, etc. - ALL IN ONE SHOT! My new Canon MF656cdw came with a DVD whose scanning software was outdated as well as other software. So much for the QUALITY CONTROL of CANON. If anyone out there from Canon and Spectrum, I strongly recommend you fix this PROBLEM! We have a new President who just may SHAKE THINGS UP IN THE TECHNOLOGY FIELD or perhaps, I should contact Elon Musk and DOGE? "THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE...BUT WHERE AND WHEN WILL A FIX BE MADE AVAILABLE?"

There is no way to turn the 2.4 or 5GHz band on on your router that you got from Spectrum? That just does not sound right to me as so many devices still rely on those two bands as they don't support the 6GHz band. I would switch providers if there are other providers available as that sound way fishy to me. Perhaps you could hook up your own router to the modem that supports the 2.4 & 5GHz bands.
That is the problem with software CD / DVD's. They have software on them that might have been updated since they pressed those discs. At least you can go to their web site to get the updated ones. It's another step but a relatively easy one at that.
