I replaced an empty cartridge with a new one (both Canon) and got the B504 error message. I have spent hours following online recommendations for fixing this, including downloading new drivers, but the error remains. Any thoughts?

Hi DJG,
The B504 is a general hardware failure error. If you have not done so, I recommend performing a reset of the printer. While the printer is on, unplug the power cord from the printer and let it sit for 60 seconds. While the power is off, press the power button 5 times. After 60 seconds plug the power cord back in and power on the printer.
If the error wont clear, the printer would require serive. To look into your service options, please contact Canon at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666), Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM EST. Have a good day

I tried the reset twice. I continue to get the B504 error message. 😞
