Image Class MF453DW Error #853 Printing PDFs from Mac

Hi!

I'm hoping someone is able to help me. I am trying to print PDFs from my MacBook Air (OS Ventura 13.2.1) to my Canon MF453DW printer and am having issues. I can print documents with around 10 pages or less but nothing over that will print from my MAC. It sits in the queue for about 10 minutes and then disappears and there is an error #853 listed in the printing jobs. The printer is able to print these types of documents because I tried it from my PC and the full document printed in less a minute.

I googled this error and it says "#853. A document could not be printed because its data size exceeded the machine's upper processing capability. The machine may not be able to print documents with many pages. Reduce the number of pages per printing, or print when no print job is queued or no document is being printed."

Not sure why this would just be an issue with the Mac. Does anyone have any advice or a fix for this?

Hello Shnotaryofca,

That error will usually come up if the incorrect driver is being used with the Mac. In this situation, you can try downloading and installing the UFR II/UFRII LT Printer Driver & Utilities for Mac V10.19.13 [macOS 10.12.6 - macOS 13.2.1] from our support site. Once the printer driver has been installed, you can Click on the apple in the upper left hand corner of the screen and then click on system preferences. Once in system preferences click on Printers and Scanners.

In printers and scanners, you can use the - at the bottom of the list to remove any connections for the MF450 series. Once they are gone, you can click the + at the bottom of the. In the add printer window, you can highlight the printer and make sure the USE box for driver selection is set to the printer name and not airprint or secure airprint. Once the USE drop down is set to the printer model, you can click add.
