Service center won't tell me what's wrong with my SELPHY CP1500

Owned the SELPHY CP1500 for 2 years. Printed at least 100 pics, knowledgeable about process, editing, etc., with no problems. Suddenly got error messages (‘incorrect paper’, ‘printer in use’). Per Canon customer service, I mailed the printer with appropriate paperwork to address in Va. Within a week I received an email stating that the printer could not be serviced, please advise what I would like to do next.
The communication offered no explanation as to WHAT was wrong or WHY it could not be repaired. Just an offer to sell me a new one. Now why would I do that after it conks out after 2 years?! This is non-existent customer service. Disgraceful. No more Canon products for me.

Our team told you to send a SELPHY printer? Someone from 1-800-OK-CANON (800-652-2666) told you to mail a SELPHY printer to Newport News, Virginia?

That is correct- with explicit directions including form to fill out, address to mail it to, and it cost me $15.30. Why do you sound so surprised?

Hi,

Based on this type of issue, I recommend reaching out to Canon support. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.

Our support team may be able to see if there are any notes about what type of hardware issue the printer experienced. I cannot guarantee they will have the full details because it will depend on what notes the repair facility left.

We look forward to hearing from you.
