Tip for taking photos of groups of people.

I ran across this tip that I thought I'd pass along.

Match the aperture to the number of people in your group. If you have 11 people, choose f/11.
If you have 5 people, choose f/5.
And so on.

I can't say it's foolproof, but it gets you pretty close, I think.

Not a bad idea; my rule of thumb when I was a stringer for Aetna was really about How 'deep' the 'bodies' were, e.g. 3 people deep f16, contingent upon how much of the background you want to keep in focus and what lens you're shooting with.

Pretty close to getting the depth of field you are looking for to keep everyone in focus.
