Hey guys, please look at this image, and blow it up. There are spots in the background that I can't get rid of. It must be in the lens as I have cleaned the lens front and back, and the filers. Any idea how to fix this?

maybe a dirty sensor?

can you clean the sensor?

Usually dust inside of or even on the outside of a lens won't show up. They (dust particles) are OOF (out-of-focus).
You can clean a sensor but I would not suggest it to someone with limited knowledge. This is a good rule to follow, don't put anything smaller than a football inside your ear or camera. If you suspect a dirty or contaminated sensor find a shop or send it to Canon for a C&C. At the very least find some one that has done it successfully before first.

99.9% likely it is sensor dust.
As ebiggs1 said, have a qualified individual clean it. Its easy for someone who jknows how.

To really complicate this, I went back and took some shots. With every lens I can see the spots, so I have eliminated the lens as the problem. It is funny that when I went back, I can see the spots through the viewfinder also. Possible the mirror and the sensor have been contaminated. Obviously this is a serious problem that I need to resolve, so I think I will look for a qualified shop to clean it.

" Possible the mirror and the sensor have been contaminated."
Spots or dust on the mirror will not show up in your photos either.
