5D focus points malfunction

The focus points on my 5D suddenly stopped working properly. although they are still somewhat visible, they are clearly faded and sometimes barely discernible. Any idea what the problem could be or how to repair?

Is there a 7D mark ii coming soon?

Looking to maybe upgrade from 60D.  I shoot a lot of indoor sports.  Frame rate is great. The 7D at 8fps is good but, would like the new sensor technology with the improved ISO.
