RAW files from the EOS R6 use the .CR3 extension, but they are not the same as the files from the EOS R5 Mark II which also uses the .CR3 file extension.

What is the version of Photoshop and Lightroom that you have installed?

From Adobe's site - https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html

EOS R6 raw files require the following versions or later

  • Adobe Camera RAW version 12.4
  • Lightroom (cloud) 3.4
  • Lightroom Classic 9.4

EOS R5 Mark II raw files require the following versions or later

  • Adobe Camera RAW 16.4
  • Lightroom (cloud) 7.4
  • Lightroom Classic 13.4

Are you using Windows file explorer if so it cannot handle RAW files. So it will look corrupted but it’s not. It doesn’t know how to correctly decode the file. JPEGs don’t have this issue because that file type is supported on all computers. A RAW file IS NOT viewable alone. It must be converted into to some other file type to be viewable such as a JPEG.

No its not the issue with windows. Its with other photo editing software like lightroom photoshop and denoise where its saying file is corrupted . I havea second dslr camera  canon r6 which has same raw file i m able to import to lightroom and other software.

Not every photo editing software supports all cameras. The EOS R6 is an older camera so it’s supported already. But the EOS R5 Mark II is newer it may not be supported.

Hi vinyadventures,

Are you using SanDisk storage media by chance?

If so, what size type model?

You can just share a raw file using a filehost. Google Drive (you will need to right click and share it for everyone), Dropbox, WeTransfer. Don't use Google Photos.

The print screen from your Windows Image Viewer is how a raw file from Canon looks like when black level and crop haven't been applied.

Windows has a RAW Image Extension that allows viewing RAW files. There may be a lag in update for new devices.

Yes I’m aware of it. It works with both my EOS 40D EOS 5D Mark IV but it doesn’t work with my friend’s EOS R5 Mark II. It works with her original EOS R5 and her mom’s original EOS R6 EOS R6 Mark II
