EOS Rebel T8i shuts off while plugged into external monitor

I have the Canon EOS Rebel T8i, I want to use the camera to record with a third-party app, the app being OBS. The camera periodically shuts off after 5 minutes or so. I have the auto off option disabled but it still shuts off. How do I make it not shut off?

You might try putting the camera into Video mode.  But it may still shut off after 30 minutes.

I believe your camera is compatible with the EOS Webam Utility, which uses a USB connection cable between the camera and your computer, NOT an HDMI cable.  Try that.
