EOS R6 Mark III Issues with loading RAW files?

WetPopTart

Hey guys I was just wondering if anyone else had this issue, I just got the R6 Mark III a few days ago and I'm running the new 1.0.1 software, formatted 2 different CFexpress cards and a regular SD card and my RAW and CRAW photos refuse to load properly. JPEG previews and loads completely fine but CR3 files refuse to open on MacOS, previews fine on Windows 11 but when opened gives the entire photo a purple tint. In contrast every CR2 file I have from other cameras (T7) work fine and as expected. These files also refuse to be imported into Lightroom and on the rare occasions their outline does show up, it remains greyed out with a (!) symbol. If I try to import from camera instead of using a reader I get these messages stating its damaged or corrupted, and if I import to local instead of cloud I get greyed selectable but undisplayable boxes in the photo reel section. Ive already reset my camera and same issue persists. could this be a new product software issue or my personal camera issue? please helpIMG_9365.jpg

Version 4.21.10 of Canon Digital photo professional has support for the EOS R6 III.

https://app.ssw.imaging-saas.canon/app/en/dpp.html is the download page.

Canon DPP can save a 16 bit TIFF file which can then be edited in other software. If one has a Canon lens, I suggest using the Canon "digital lens optimizer" in DPP before saving the TIFF file. Some processing algorithms should not be done twice, once in DPP and once in other software. For example, distortion correction should be done only once, but unsharp mask sometimes improves an image when done more than once using different radii.

Apple Photos.app usually supports raw files from a new camera soon after release.

I run the latest Canon DPP software on 2019 iMac with Sequoia.

Another option:

I no longer use any Adobe software, but the Adobe Digital negative converter will often convert a new camera model CR3 to dng soon after the camera is released. The dng file can be opened in some Adobe software and in Rawtherapee free software.

Greetings,

While we investigate, we will probably ask a bunch of different questions.  My first is this. Where were these CFE B and SD cards sourced from?  If you are using these between different cameras they have to be formatted in camera before each use.

Well the SDHC 1 100mb/s 32gb sandisk ultra I used (SD Card) was previously used on another camera but it was formatted before shooting. The CFexpress Pro 256gb Sandisk is brand new and straight from Sammys camera, formatted before use. I got the CFexpress Type B 512gb Lexar professional from amazon but it's also brand new and freshly formatted. I feel it's a software issue as JPEG was formatted and loaded perfectly fine on all cards while the CR3 files "failed" on all three. The photos look beautiful on the cameras displays, but load incorrectly/don't load at all depending on the computers operating system. doubt its anything with the hardware, I'm hoping for another software update soon tbh

WetPopTart,

I'm wondering if it's a Lightroom issue, and not a hardware issue at all.

No they seem to turn purple when opened with windows native photo app (and don't open with apple at all), but its so weird because the preview looks fine. ill attach a photo so you can see the preview icon and the purple-ness of the photo when fully opened

I suggest using Canon DPP software until Windows and macOS are updated.

Which version of Adobe Lightroom are you using?

Greetings,

I remember seeing an issue (pink and purple images) with certain SanDisk cards.  v60's.  However, it doesn't appear to apply here.   R5 MKII pink images.

Steps to resolve still image problem when using certain SanDisk SD cards with the Canon EOS R5 Mark ...

It does appear to be a software issue in your environment.  Some options.

-Load DPP and check display with it

-Upload a RAW file to a file sharing service and post a link here, we'll try it for you.

We all have DPP, LrC, DxO, Topaz and others between us.
