Hi All, need some help.
Recently got a EOS R, mint body condition
Firmware: 1.8.0.CF
Mode: Manual , Photomode
I noticed the view finder laggy and jittery in comparison to my RP. Went to try change the settings to Smooth, however the option "Disp. Performance" is grayed out and gives an error message "Not Available" when you try to select it. I did a settings reset as well as custom function reset, also tried updating the firmware using 1.8.0 found on Canon USA website. Still unable to gain access to the setting. Whenever you do turn the camera on, there is a little icon ("FPS") that appears bottom center for a brief second.
Why is it my firmware in the camera say "CF" attached to it? I seen no documentation online about that. What could it be that is causing me not to be able to select Smooth setting?
My battery has two green bars when it comes to recharge performance, both are LPE6N.

Greetings cascotroy,
Per your description, it sounds like the EOS R camera you have with you has the stop motion animation firmware installed. One of the functions that this firmware version disables is the display performance menu option on the camera that allows users to change the performance to "smooth".
You may send your camera to our facility for them to remove this firmware version and to install a standard firmware on the camera. Unfortunately, this is not something that can be done on the user's end.

Thank you Natalya, would there be a cost for this procedure for an out of warranty unit?

Have you purchased a used camera body? If so, it is a best practice to fully reset the camera back to factory defaults. You want the camera to be in a known state when you begin using it.
