I want to set a Custom Function on my R6 Mark ii but none of the 5 possible functions are listed in the Custom Function section. Any suggestions? Ultimately I'm trying to the R6 to leave the display blank except when I go into the menu or when I playback a photo. I read this is a place to do that. Screen/viewfinder display is set to AUTO2. I don't use the display to frame a shot, I use the viewfinder.

You might need to be in a creative mode like P

Kevin is right that custom functions menu is not shown unless the camera is set to a creative mode such as P, Tv, Av, M, Fv.
What is displayed on the rear screen is determined by pressing the INFO button while the LCD screen is showing. There are five possible displays, but unlike EOS R5, R5 Mk2, R3 & R1 you cannot have a blank display as one of the options. To achieve something similar set tbe camera to display on the LCD where you currently have AUTO2 selected, and then reverse the lcd so it is closed and not visible. The camera will now only use the viewfinder, but when you open the lcd the menus and screens will show only on the LCD.

Thank you both. I am using Manual exposure.
I probably didn't word my question properly. I see the 5 displays (1 through 5) in the Custom Function section. What I don't see is any menu-type item for specific custom functions, like C.Fn1 etc
I shoot sports, and want to display the photos I take fairly quickly - for example between plays - to see if I have anything noteworthy. I don't use Live View - always use the viewfinder. I was trying to eliminate seeing Live view between shots, thinking it is using some battery power. Sounds like that might not be possible.

When you set the camera mode dial to SCN and then choose the Sports mode from the available scene types the menus are simplified and items that cannot be changed are not even displayed. So you will see the red tab for shooting settings with 5 sub pages, pink AF tab with 5 pages, blue playback with 6 pages, purple communication tab with 3 sub pages, and the yellow setup tab with 6 sub pages.
However when you set the mode dial to one of the creative zone modes:- P, Tv, Av, M, Fv, B, C1, C2, C3 then you will see the additional brown tab for custom functions and the green my menu tab.
Switching off the LCD is not possible to make it work like a previous DSLR, however I find that battery life is not significantly compromised. Shooting motorsports recently with my own EOS R6 Mark II using an EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM lens and Extender EF 1.4x III I managed 4,500 photos on a single battery. I shoot with the viewfinder most of the time, and only review images some of the time on the LCD.

Thanks again! I don't use SCN (or at least I haven't used the equivalent in previous cameras) but that's good to know. Outdoors, I shoot US Football and indoors I shoot roller derby, usually with a flash. I didn't realize I would need an adapter for my R6 hotshoe so I have one on order. That will be another exciting learning experience, I'm sure.

You might not need the adapter to use a flash. The EOS R6 Mark II has the connections for most standard flashes as well as the new multifunction connections at the front. If you are using one of the Canon weather sealed Speedlites listed below.
For these units you have two options' one is use the AD-E1 to maintain the weather sealing of the camera and Speedlite, two is pull off the rubber seal from the Speedlite and it will fit perfectly fine just not weather sealed.

This is not a custom function, just set the review to "Off"

Thank you. I guess I'm really looking to have the R6 display act like Canon's previous generation. If I'm not using the display to frame the photo I'd like it to be off, but I still want to review the photos on the display and sometimes get into the menu and make changes. I know the sensor turns the display off when I use the viewfinder.
