Does one year limited warranty cover sensor and lens cleaning?

I need sensor and lens cleaning. Does one year limited warranty cover it? I purchased EOS R50 camera kit on Nov 21, 2024. I have 14 days. Thank you.

I suspect not, since sensor/lens cleaning is not a manufacturing defect, which is what the warranty covers.

You can contact Canon directly at 1-800-OK-CANON.

You beat me to it. I would imagine a warranty would not include compensating for customer neglect and if the sensor needs cleaning within the first year, that's 100% owner neglect.

Thank you! To be honest, I only recently noticed that there were spots in the sky in the images taken during the first month after I purchased this camera. Unfortunately, the return window closed on January 31, 2025. I rarely use this camera and mostly take it when traveling, so I didn’t notice it at the time. Had I noticed it, I would have returned it. Now I’ll just have to pay to have it cleaned.

So glad you didn't get to return the camera, after your neglect. Nobody wants to deal with damage that you caused.

Sensor spots hardly qualify as damage.

It is not damage hahaha, unfortunately I didn’t return it.

Greetings,

Sensor cleaning kits are available.  If you have any apprehension, you should let a professional do it though.  Canon factory Service is a great way to go.  😉

The one-year limited warranty for your Canon EOS R50 typically covers manufacturing defects and malfunctions, but it does not cover routine maintenance such as sensor or lens cleaning unless the issue is caused by a defect in materials or workmanship.

Since you’re still within 14 days of purchase, some retailers or Canon service centers might offer a complimentary cleaning or inspection as a courtesy it’s worth contacting the Canon service center or the store where you bought it to confirm.
