Can't get touch focus/shutter to work on EOS 6D Mark II with a Tamron 70-200 2.8

Canon 6D Mark II using Tamroin 70-200 2.8

I am trying touse LiveView touch screen for focus and shutter. I am accustomed to pressing the button that zooms in pin the image to get a sharper focus and then touch the screen again somehow to activate the shutter.r

Except none of that is happening this time.  Touch screen is enabled.

I'm not sure I like the idea of touching the screen to take the picture since that would cause some movements even on a tripod. I have the camera set for 2-second delay ro prevent that.

What am I missing?

If you have BBF enabled, then there could be issues.  Does it work in Intelligent Auto Mode, Green [A+]?

I do use BBF. Does that cancel out the ability to focus and trigger shutter on the Live View screen? As far as Intelligent Auto Mode, no, I do not sue that. I generally use manual for most of my work. I was not aware that I had to use Intelligent Auto mode to be able to focus and trigger shutter on the Live View screen.

Let’s test the camera.  Does the Touch Focus work In Intelligent Auto?  The alternative is to perform a full reset of the camera, which clears out all your settings.

If the Touch Shutter doesn’t to work in Auto mode, then you most likely have a settings issues, especially if you use BBF.  Touch Focus simulates pressing the Shutter Button.  It does not know anything about BBF.

The camera is not able to magnify the image and autofocus at the same time.  Make certain that your lens is set to AF, not MF.  As I noted above, Touch Shutter simulates pressing the Shutter Button.  Configuring BBF changes the default behavior of the Shutter Button under most circumstances.
