If it is for the canon EF mount you don’t need an adapter. If it is for another brand, it will be difficult to adapt.

Greetings,

If you have the option to return the lens, do so.  Then repurchase with the correct mount.

If return is not an option, I'd sell the lens.  Unlike Sigma, Tamron does not offer a mount conversion service.

Did you buy a Canon EF-mount version of the lens? If you did your question is moot. If you bought a lens with a different mount, you goofed. Return it or sell it to someone who has the right camera for the mount.

From memory...........

Check the model name on the lens barrel for identification Nikon NII/NK, Canon CA, Sony E/A. Older Tamron lenses had "Adaptall" or "Adaptall-II" written on them which indicates an interchangeable mount. It looks like an adapter screwed on or locked onto the base of the lens. If it has Di it is Canon EF or Nikon F. If it has Di II it is crop sensor family. I think all that is correct but it will be difficult for a lay person the tell by looking at the mount. If it doesn't mount right up easily, dots lined up, it is most likely the wrong companies mount.

If it is an older Tamron "Adaptall" or "Adaptall-II", you will need to find the correct adapter.

I would also advice to return it and make sure you buy a Canon EF or EF-s mount.
