Can I still tether my 5D1 to my computer?

I'm trying to tether my 5D to Windows, but even EOS Utlities v2 won't see it.
Does anyone know what I need to tether it to Windows please? I'm trying to remote shoot.

Re: Can I still tether my 5D1 to my computer?

I've already got EOS U 2 and 3 on my computer but neither are now seeing the 5D. I've found another way though, I simply take shots on the 5D, then put the card into the 5DSR and tether it to transfer the photos, seems to work.

If the only reason you are tethering us to download files consider getting a card reader.

Oddly, using a card reader windows doesn't recognise the card. Maybe it's bust?
I would like to tether teh 5D too though.

Is the problem in the card or the reader? And which version of Windows are you dealing with?

I have one Windows 7 Pro laptop that connects to my Rebel with EOSU-2, and my 6D with EOSU-3.  All that  I need to do is simply connect the USB cable, and turn on the camera.  The appropriate utility fires itself up.

The card is fine, the card reader is fine. I use Windows 7 SP1 64 bit

I'm confused.

If you connect the camera via USB can you see it in the Computer window?

Sorry, if I use a card formatted in the 5D and put it in the card reader, Windows can't see it. If I use  card formatted in the 5DSR and put it in the card reader, Windows sees it.
So I format the card in the 5DSR and use it in the 5D, then transfer using the reader.
That's not best though, and it means I can't tether. I am 100% certain I used to use EOSU 2 for the 5D but that can't see it now.

That sounds like a camera problem. What do others think?

It is definitely possible. I connected my 5D to my old laptop with Windows XP and it worked. 100% sure
