That 28-70mm f/2 is calling out to me.....

Same here.  The price is tempting.  I just really like the lighter weight of the 24-70.  It would probably grow on me.

I don't have either the 24-70 nor the 28-70 at this time.  Only a 24-105 F/4 in that focal range.  Decided to go with RF 16-35mm f/2.8L and 50mm f/1.2 instead first.  (buying all lenses used at this time, slowly building up my collection and finding amazing deals from people selling stuff off moving to Nikon or Sony) My next lens is going to have to be the 100-500 f/5.6-7.1 cause I'm going to an airshow in October.  It's a tough call.  I can save a ton by getting all these mint condition lenses from the FM forums and saving at least 600 bucks or more.  At this time my day job is funding this hobby, as I don't do paid photo work.  The massive price increases on cheaply-produced gear is a hard pill to swallow.  Nevermind the image quality is superior nowadays with mirrorless, it just doesn't feel premium in the hand anymore like the EF system did.  Nevertheless, I'm sticking with Canon, because the end results are what count more than the haptics.

Totally envious of your US pricing.  Over here we get screwed on price.  For example:
RF 14-35      $3,200
RF 15-35      $4,300
RF 28-70     $4,873
RF 70-200   $4,828
RF 100-500 $5,127

Even taking into account the exchange rate, we pay a penalty for being a small market.

Trevor,

Ouch!  😲  You had made mention of this before but that import and duty is massive.

Chris,

You have a respectable kit, both body's and lenses.  I owned too many EF lenses and still have many left.  I'm being very selective with what I buy now.  Trying to avoid overlap unless something will serve a specific purpose.

Actually there is no import duty on camera gear, the difference is about 30% on the exchange rate, and 15% GST, but that still leaves quite a gap, which is markup.  For example, for the RF 14-35 the official price is $3,200 NZ , but by getting it parallel imported from a reputable NZ store (with a 3-year warranty) I saved $1,050 NZ including GST.
