Thanks in Advance - I have done something to the settings of my camera over the weekend (I'm a newbie) and now when I turn the camera on I cannot access the menu or information or photos on my sim card.  I have checked the sim card & it is fine & I was able to download the photos onto my computer.  I just can't access the photos via the camera to delete etc.  The screen has "exp SIM" flashing on the screen on the righthand side.  I have tried the camera on A+, P & M settings to try and reset and still the same problem.  Hoping someone can help me reset the camera.  I would greatly appreciate some advice / help.

EXP SIM stands for exposure simulation. Your camera reads the room and more or less gives you a representation of what your picture is going to look like, given the settings you have chosen.

If your camera can't "read the room", your exp sim will flash. The other day my exp Sim was flashing, and I realized I had left my lens cap on and the camera was blind.

You mentioned a Sim card. I think you meant an SD card. Sim cards are for making phone calls.

If you have another one, I would try putting in a freshly formatted SD card. Just make sure it's a full sized SD card and not a micro SD with an adapter.

Outside of that, I don't know how to help.  If push8ig your. Menu button doesn't bring your Menu up, I don't know how you would get to your settings to reset your camera.

"...try and reset and still the same problem."

If your computer reads the SD (not a sim) it is probably OK. If you can't do a proper reset try removing the battery for an extended period of time (days). Turn the camera off. Also, holding the shutter button down for 30+ seconds can drain the residual power in the internal capacitors. You should have to enter the date/time if it is fully reset.

If this doesn't work you need to call Canon 1 (800) 652-2666

EOS 1DX and many lenses.

Unclear from the wording if 1. you aren't sure how to reset camera, or 2. reset doesn't work.

It sounds like the camera could be in Live View or Movie mode.  Does the camera make a noise when you turn it off and on?

Deep down, most photographers are trying to freeze time for people who don't realize how fast life is moving. Please ask for an invite to my Knowledge Base articles for tips on teaching photography, composition, and non-compensated product reviews.

Thank you.  I will try taking the battery out for a couple of days & try what you suggest.  Fingers crossed.

Thank you.  I can't get to the menu to try and reset the camera.  It has been suggested I take the battery out & leave for a couple of days so I'll try that & see if I can then get to the menu.  Appreciate you help.  Yep SD card not SIM.

Thank you.  Yes that sounds like what is happening "live view" and the orange light also comes on so I think that has something to do with the movie mode.  No noise when being turned on/off.
