Canon EOS R50 Mode Dial Broken – How to Apply for Free Repair Service?

Srigar

Hello Canon Community,

My Canon #EOS R50 black camera mode dial suddenly broke and detached from the camera body during normal use. Out of warranty, Canon initially gave me a repair estimate of $381

After researching online, I found Canon’s official “Notice of Free Repair Service for the Mirrorless Camera #EOS R50 (Black)” regarding the same mode dial issue. My camera serial number starts with 222, which appears to fall within the affected serial number range

I’m trying to understand how to apply for the free repair service. I could not clearly find the repair request link or instructions on Canon’s website.

Can someone please guide me:
• Where exactly do I submit the free repair request?
• Do I need to contact support first?
• Has anyone here successfully received the free repair for this issue?

Thank you.

Primary,

Here is a page from Canon on your issue. Canon recommends that you register your camera with them first.

Thank you for the reply and for sharing the Canon advisory.

I have already registered my camera with Canon. However, when I submitted the repair request, Canon provided an estimated repair cost of $381.

My EOS R50 is a black model, and the serial number starts with 222, which appears to be within the affected serial number range listed in the advisory. I'm currently trying to determine how to have my repair request reviewed under the free repair program.

If you have any suggestions or know who I should contact at Canon regarding this, I would greatly appreciate your guidance.

Primary,

I would start a repair request here:

Thank you for the suggestion. I have already used that link and submitted a repair request through my Canon account. Unfortunately, it leads me to the same repair portal where Canon generated a repair estimate of $381.

Thank you for the suggestion. I’m going to call Canon today and explain that my camera appears to qualify under the EOS R50 mode dial free repair advisory. Hopefully they can review the repair estimate and clarify the correct process.
