I'm not surprised as the Mk III version was introduced in 2018, so it's 7 years since the Mk2 was replaced. However it is still a great lens and I use mine a heck of a lot.

So my EF 70-200mm f/2.8 non-IS version l is probably waaaay past serviceable.  🙂

Good thing it still operates like new.  But even if it dies tomorrow, after 29 years of heavy use, I think I've gotten my money's worth out of it.  That would make me update to the RF version.

This is the list from the Japan website (*which I have been told is not necessarily representative of US dates, but the non-IS version is EOL May 2026.

That is surprising since this lens is even older yet (I think I bought it in 1996).
Thanks, John!

Hi Rick,

'In appreciation of your continued loyalty, our expert sales team is standing by to help you find a great deal on upgraded Canon gear."   Yeah, now you have an excuse to get another RF lens!   😁

Cheers,
Joe
