iP8700 - replaced grey - printer now showing magenta not recognised

I bought this printer in June 2020, I've just replaced the grey from the installed set up inks, having already replaced yellow, cyan and magenta. Now my printer refuses to recognise the magenta cartridge. I've tried:

1) taking out all the cartridges and rebooting the printer

2) replacing the grey with the set up 1

3) rebooting everything

4) Cleaning the contacts

When the cartridges are installed the magenta shows a red light, but as soon as the printer does a set up the magenta fails.

To be brutally honest I loved my old canon but this one hasn't lived up to expectations and I need this printer working tomorrow. I'm using genuine canon cartridges, and I'm at my wits end. Please can anyone suggest how I get this sorted.

Greetings,

It sounds like you've done the typical and recommended steps after a cartridge change and detection failure.

Two options I see.  Try another cartridge or contact Canon.

Yes, I did, thank you. I'm now in touch with Canon UK to try and sort it out.
