I have an ImageCLASS MF644Cdw that was put into service in late 2019. Recently, this machine has started ghosting the actual text on the page and retransferring it about every 2.25" down the page and it gradually gets fainter and fainter as it repeats. The strange part is that this is only occurring in two 1/2" bands on the far left and far right sides of the page.
I have run all of the built in cleaning options multiple times and seen no improvement. I have also removed the ITB and throughly cleaned it and the brush even though it was very clean already. This showed no improvement.
The 2.25" spacing points me to the drum circumference on the toner cartridges. I replaced all the cartridges with new ones and that did not make any difference. If I print a pure magenta document, the issue is present just as it would be with a pure black document.
My best guess is that the high voltage system that controls the discharge on the drums is failing causing the toner to remain on the drum and get re-applied each rotation after. Does this sound reasonable or should I be looking elsewhere?
