I have found a solution to this, i think. In your scanner settings, change the destination folder of your scans - where they are being scanned to & where you save them to. I t has worked for me. I hope it works for you. Please respond if it does. from ozexpat

I have found the solution with new windows 10...

1. Open Settings

2. Selet "allow app to go through firewall"

3. select "change settings"

4. Select and allow "File and Printer sharing"

Action 2

1. Open settings

2. Open Virius and threat protection

3. Open Virius and threat protection settings

4. Open manage controlled folder access

5. Open allow an app through controlled folder access

6. Add this file to list to allow: C\Program Files (x86)\Canon\IJ Scan Utility\SCANUTILITY.exe

I did both and on all computers and I'm good to go! Good Luck!

baily71's solution worked the best (for me, anyway).

If the above solution do not work then try this one..
Go to "Windows defender"setting.
Then go to"Setting" the icon situated at left bottom corner.
Then go to"Virus and Threat protection"section.
Here you find a "Controlled Folder Access".
You have two options now you can disabled it or allow the scanning app through it.

I think I have a solution. When you have installed Defender in Windows 10, do the foloing. Put Defender out of action by a simple y/n. Here it is no. It helped me.
PLaese install a new anti virusscan from the internet. Plenty chooise.
Succes,
