I get this message printer off line when trying to print from ipad

How can I get my MX922 to start the scanning from the printer instead of from the computer?

MX922 Printer Will Not Copy via ADF

I'm trying to make copies via the ADF but every time I try, I get the 2802 error that says No document in ADF. There is however, a document in there.

Is there any other software besides image garden to print directly to disk? Image Garden is not versatile enough to customize your printing. I am using PIXMA 922. My os is win 7 pro.
