Will my Canon PIXMA MG2920 need both ink cartridges to begin the installment process ?

I just ordered my printer a week ago and got the black ink for it after it refused to connect to my wifi because it kept asking for ink. I just placed the black ink but no color one yet.. do i need bothe to proceed installation ?

Cannon Printer X430 prints letters with shadows and rainbow colors

My printer is printing letters with shadows that makes the text unreadable.  I am wondering how I could fix this.   I have done an entire cleaning twice.  I have a XXX black ink cartridge installed.  Could that make a difference
