cannot comminicate with scanner

Got an CAnon mp610  Had it always connected directly to computer and could print and scan , but connected it now via usb to router. Now i can still print but get message "cannot communicate with scanner' when i try to use MP Navigator.

My canon mx860 multifuntion printer has a B200 erroe code.

Pixma MX860 shows an error 9000

Cannon MS860 printer shows an error 9000 on screen, I followed Instruction to turn it off then back on and get the same error.  The manual gives no help.  Any suggestions from out there?
