Why does my laptop keep telling me my PIXMA MX515 is offline when it has worked in the past?

My printer was linked up to my new laptop and was working fine.  Then it went through a spell where it was saying it was offline but it was still printing.  Now it is saying it is offline and it is not printing.  Very frustrating!!
