Printer similar to Canon Pixma MX870?

GabyTP

My MX870 has an issue with the inkpad full, official service from Canon will not do it as they said they dont have water in the workshop (go figure) or parts. I tried doing it myself but I think I have to come to terms that it died. This was an amazing printer and I was gutted with its death. My husband got me a Canon Pixma G7020 and it's awful. It hates working and doesnt print, it spits the paper onto your face very angrily. Printing quality is just so bad I will throw it away. Now the question... what is in the market like the MX870? Is there a similar quality inkjet printer that is not super expensive? I loved this printer! I loved all the funtions: double side scanning and printing, printing quality, etc.

Greetings,

What do you print the most.  Arts and crafts, photos...  powerpoint presentations, spreadsheets, invoices...

Canon has a great printer buying guide:

Canon Printer Buying Guide | Canon U.S.A., Inc.

They also have a sales team which can help with comparisons and features.

I have 2 laser printers I am very pleased with.  They don't have ink absorbers either  😉.  Let us know if you have any questions.

Hi Rick, my question is identical to GabyTP's (looking for equivalent replacement for MX870). I tried the buyer's guide, but the "compare" function couldn't find the MX870 - i suppose it's only able to find current model offerings. Assuming that the MX870 covered a particular market niche in its day, I'm wondering what model covers that niche now.  Thanks for any insight you might be able to provide   - dan

I have exactly the same question as yours - loved my MX870, whose ink absorbers are now full. Were you able to find a suitable replacement, and if so, would you share the model name with me? I've looked at the buying guide and it's not very clear. Thanks for any info you can provide!

It might sound silly, but you might find it easier to call our team. You can tell them exactly what you like about your MX870, and they can help you find a current model that meets your needs. They can even let you know if it's available locally if you prefer to see the unit "face to face!"

Oh, and because you have a unit that's not working as it should, you qualify for a discount through the Canon Upgrade Program! Call the Upgrade Program specialists at 866-443-8002 on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (ET).
