Pixma MX922 suddenly putting out blank sheets

My MX922 printer printed a page just fine, and a few minutes later it started shooting blanks.  It sounds like it's printing, but only blanks come out.  I tried shutting it down and de-energizing it and restarting it, but it made no difference.  The scanner continued to work.  I tried the procedure "Clean the timing (encoder) strip--MX922" on the Canon site.  Now the printer will do nothing at all.  An unclearable error message appears on it's screen saying it needs service. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Hi,

Please  take the inks out of your printer and then put them back in making sure they click into place. Once that is done, click HERE for the steps to print a nozzle check. If the nozzle check does not look like the example, try a nozzle cleaning using the steps on the same page.

After the cleaning, try another nozzle check. If this does not resolve the issue and the printer is in it's 1 year warranty, I recommend reaching out to Canon support for your warranty options. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.

If the printer is out of warranty, you would qualify for the Canon Upgrade program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service or are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This program allows you the opportunity to purchase a replacement product discounted from the list price. Free ground shipping is included with your purchase.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Mon-Sat, 9 AM to 9pm EST excluding holidays.
