PIXMA TS9521C doesn’t recognize ink cartridges

My printer TS9521C doesn’t recognize the ink cartridges. I’ve tried several new cartridges and none of them are making connection. 
I have unplugged the printer for hours and restarted it. Gently cleaning the connection…it appears that the cartridge doesn’t touch the connection 

please advise

I see your TS9521C is not recognizing ink cartridges. You mentioned that you have tried several new ones. I understand you have also left the printer's power cable disconnected for hours before restarting it, and you've gently cleaned the connections.

So I can get a clearer picture of what may be happening, I will need some more information and perhaps some photos. However, I would recommend that you contact Canon support. If you haven't done so, you can create a My Canon account and register the printer. Once you've done that, you can call toll-free 1-800-652-2666 to speak with a support representative.

So that we can continue helping you here, please write back. Please attach the following photos to your reply:

  • a photo of the ink cartridges as they are installed inside the printer
  • a photo of the ink carriage holder without the ink cartridges installed
  • a photo of the back and bottom of the ink cartridges

It will also help if you can provide us with the error code/ message that is being displayed on the printer once you close the cover (after installing the inks). The code should be four characters long. Examples of possible codes are: 1401, 1600, 520E.

If you cannot attach the above photos to your reply, I recommend that you make sure you are using cartridges that have the number 281 and 280 on them. They should also be installed in the following order (from left to right):

  1. CLI-281 M  (Magenta)
  2. CLI-281 BK  (Black)
  3. CLI-281 Y  (Yellow)
  4. PG-280 PGBK  (Pigment Black)
  5. CLI-281 C  (Cyan)

You should also review the instructions for installing inks and make sure you are following those steps. Here is a link to the manual page with the instructions:

If the you are using the 281/280 cartridges and they are in the correct order, I recommend creating a Canon account, registering the printer, and calling the toll-free phone number previously mentioned.
