PIXMA TR8620a no longer scans when initiated from printer

All of a sudden my TR8620a no longer will scan to PC when I initiate it from the printer. I get this pop up on my laptop:

Canon IJ Scan Utility Lite quit unexpectedly.

I am using a macbook running Sequoia 15

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling scan utility.

Please open the IJ Scan Utility Lite on your Mac.

Once open, please click the Document or Photo button.

Were you able to scan?

If not, what error message appears?
