We are looking at deploying roughly a hundred Pixma TR8620a printers and I am looking to automate the driver installations to the users PC's which we will deploy via SCCM or an in house software delivery tool. I have downloaded the packages and unpacked them, but I can't seem to get them to install them silently with no user interaction. Is there an IT Administrators Install Guide for these models? Are there specific switches to try when installing silently?

My Company is blocking access to that link.

I was able to check it out, I was already trying that out. I created the .ini file and tried using the /qn and /i switches but it would not run in silent mode, it keeps coming up for me to manually install it.
[InstallSettings]
LANGUAGE=en
INSTALLDIR=C:\Program Files\Canon\TR8620a
INSTALLMANUAL=false
LOCALELIST=

👋 Hey there — the good news is the PIXMA TR8620a does support silent installs via SCCM.
⚠️ Note: This is an unofficial walkthrough, but it’s based directly on Canon’s published installer documentation.
.ini file that comes with the installer, save it as silent.ini, and place it next to setup.exe.setup.exe /qn "silent.ini" /i /m
/qn → no UI (quiet mode)"silent.ini" → your config file/i → install/m → sends result status to SCCMsetup.exe /qn "silent.ini" /u
📑 Logs are written to %TEMP%\iwsetup_yyyymmddhhmmss.log
💡 Best practice: configure SCCM to suppress reboots and handle them separately (Canon notes MIF reporting can fail if a reboot happens mid-install).
@echo off
REM Canon PIXMA TR8620a Silent Install
cd /d "%~dp0"
setup.exe /qn "silent.ini" /i /m
exit /b %errorlevel%
👉 Bottom line: with the silent.ini file in place and that command line, SCCM can push this package silently with no user interaction while still reporting back status.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong but it's still not installing silently.
My "silent.ini" file is:
[InstallSettings]
LANGUAGE=en
LOCALELIST=
INSTALLDIR=C:\Temp\Canon\Unpacked\DrvSetup
INSTALLMANUAL=false
exit
From the C:\Temp\Canon\Unpacked\DrvSetup folder I run: setup.exe /qn "silent.ini" /i (and also tried it with /i /m)
But it still only run with user interaction.

Does the silent.ini file have to be created in a certain way, or does the information have to go in a certain order?

So the 2 Canon drivers I downloaded does not contain a sample .ini file in them, how do I get those? I don't see any other drivers to install for it.

Would you have any other ideas? I called into the Canon support @ 800-652-2666 but they don't understand anything about the silent switches or how to run it in silent mode. That seems a little crazy to me. We are looking to add roughly 100 to 200 printers if we can get this running. They said they couldn't help.

Hi GoofyNole,
The unattended or silent installation of PIXMA printers is not supported. The drivers and software for PIXMA printers would have to be installed on each computer separately. I apologize for the information provided above, as that method can be used with imageRUNNER printers, not PIXMA printers.
