PIXMA TR8620a does not acknowledge my printer

MartinMiller

I have a TR8620a printer. It worked perfectly, up until about 2 weeks ago. Running Windows 11 (in S mode). Only thing that changed (as far as I can tell) was a Windows update. Now It does not acknowledge my printer and when I attempt to re-install the printer I get directed to the APP store to down load Canons assistant, but it will not download. Any help would be appreciated. FYI; I am NOT computer literate.  So please keep it really simple..

Hello there!

Think of Windows 11 in S mode kind of like an iPad, you can't install programs on it like a normal PC, you have to install apps from the Windows App Store, so the process is a tad different.

Here is a shortcut to the part of the setup process that matters to you: TAP ME

On that page, you're given a link to "prepare" the printer, which means making it so the printer and your network or Surface can communicate with each other. Tapping on the link will show you how to put the printer in pairing mode to attach it and your Surface. Once they're paired, the printer driver is installed automatically from Microsoft.

I appreciate the response. The whole thing worked perfectly fine, up until about 2 weeks ago. Not sure if a Windows update threw a wrench into the mix, but nothing worked.  I ultimately ended up dragging out an old Desktop computer and I will do all my printing off of that.
