Hello Everyone,
I hope I'm posting this in the right place - I too seem to have this problem with a brand new TR8620a that I purchased just under 2 weeks ago.
After printing, within a few seconds I hear the printer make the sounds of going into a somewhat short cleaning cycle. This happens every time I print something.
I have set the "Auto Power" settings set to "auto power on: Enable" and "auto power off: Disable".
I did this in the hopes of "preventing" ink wasting cycles - by leaving the printer on all the time. I don't know if my settings are a problem, or if it's this particular printer, or a well know issue as seems to be indicated in the above posts.
I have two weeks to return the printer, the 14th day is this Sunday! So I'm hoping someone can comment and let me know their thoughts.
Thank you.

Hi,
For this issue, I recommend reaching out to Canon support. The real time feedback of a live technical support call/chat would be very beneficial in this case.
You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.
We look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you Arthur. Unfortunately I had some issues come up at home which kept me from properly troubleshooting as you suggested. The store I bought it from only had a 2 week return time so I ended up returning it yesterday (the last day).
On a happier note, I purchased another Canon today, the mega tank G6020 - so hopefully that will work out better for me and Canon keeps me as a customer.
