PIXMA TR8520 - Defective Ink Cart

I tried to replace a Genuine Canon ink cartridge in my PIXMA TR8520 with a Genuine Canon ink cartridge that I purchased from Amazon. The new cartridge will not seat. What are my options? It was part of a CLI-281 4-pack. Is it possible that the new cartridges are counterfeit and is there a way to tell the difference?

Some questions some might sound dumb, 

1 Did you remove the packing tape if any?

2. Are you installing in the correct slot?

3. Is it a totally Canon cartridge, the ink, and the cartridge itself?

I suggest you follow my colleagues instructions... You can get counterfeit ink from almost anywhere... While Amazon is an authorized Canon reseller, it's marketplace is not.  If you got a "deal", It might be suspect. If it doesn't say ships from and sold by Amazon, there's no way to know for sure.  I usually buy directly from Canon, from Costco or Best Buy.
