Windows 11 new laptop, replaced Windows 11 laptop. WIFI. Printing and scanning worked fine on old laptop. On new laptop I thought I installed necessary Canon apps. Printing has been working OK but tried my first scan using the Canon app on laptop. Get popup that says to see if printer is on and network connection. Printing is working so I don't understand, with regard to connecting, what is different about scanning. The IJ utility says I don't have the right driver but I installed the MP driver. Help is appreciated.

Took awhile to get back to this. I thought I had done the reboot step but I did it again. Magic, everything working OK. Thanks for help.

The quickest way to get to the bottom of this is to connect the printer using a USB cable, make sure the scanner works and then convert the connection back to wireless. The first thing to try however is t leave the printer on and reboot/restart your laptop.
The latest drivers and programs for your printer are located here:
