PIXMA TR4722 Error 5100 when printing from the network

Michelle_Scott

Hi all,

My TR4722 no longer prints properly over a network connection. It will recognize the print job, however, it would make a terrible noise and scrunch up the paper when outputting the document! This has been going on for some time now, so any and all advice welcome.

This is not a network problem. Most likely you have an obstruction, a piece of paper somewhere in the print head carriage. It can be very small and still cause a paper jam.

Error code 5100 on the PIXMA TR4722 typically indicates a problem with the printer's print head or ink cartridges. Check for any obstructions, ensure the cartridges are properly installed, and try resetting the printer.

I tried something very unusual to correct the problem (cleaned the ribbon and the rollers with rubbing alcohol and a napkin). For some reason, although the error is gone, however, when I print in color on plain paper it bends a corner of the page! Eh, what should I do?

Check the rollers, make sure no obstruction in the path.  These are other things to look for:

Causes of Page Corner Bending

Printer Issues

  • Roller Problems: Worn or damaged rollers can cause paper to bend or crumple during feeding.
  • Cleaning Impact: Improper cleaning of rollers may lead to damage, affecting paper handling.

Paper Quality

  • Old or Poor Quality Paper: Using aged or low-quality paper can lead to bending and wrinkling.
  • Paper Size and Type: Ensure the paper is cut correctly and matches the printer settings.

Solutions to Prevent Bending

Maintenance Steps

  • Check Rollers: Inspect and replace worn rollers if necessary.
  • Clean the Paper Path: Remove any debris or dust that may obstruct paper feeding.

Paper Handling

  • Use Quality Paper: Switch to a new batch of high-quality paper that is suitable for your printer.
  • Adjust Paper Settings: Ensure the printer settings match the type and size of the paper being used.

Printer Settings

  • Print Head Alignment: Perform a print head alignment to ensure proper printing.
  • Increase Print Quality: Adjust the print quality settings to improve output.
