PIXMA MG2525 invalid serial number preventing registration

46er

Trying to register an MG2525 and receive message saying the serial number is invalid and not a USA printer, yet it is what is on the serial # sticker on the printer.  The printer was purchased from Amazon.

Patrick, I cannot access support since the printer cannot be registered.  Catch22.  I will try and call the sales support number.

I was able to register the printer on the Canadian Canon site.  I will contact Amazon for an explanation.

I'm in Canada and tried to register my recent purchase on the US site above. After entering the S/N and uploading my receipt from Amazon.ca I got stuck entering my address because there was no provision Province or Country. Tried twice and failed. I then googled how to register a product in Canada and the Canadian site required me to reset my password which I'd forgotten. I still found no way to register a product until I saw this:

NOTE: Customers in Canada are not required to register their product for warranty consideration. It is recommended that you retain a copy of your bill of sale should you require such service, as a copy of the bill is required for warranty consideration.

Well, that's a whole hour of my life I'll never get back.

I have about 2 hours in trying to figure it out.  It is now registered via the Canadian Canon site, Amazon could not give an explanation other than offering to let me return it. 👎   After having success with registering I will keep it, and should it fail I'll be buying an Epson or HP.

Hi 46er,

The PIXMA MG2525 is sold in the United States and also in Canada.  It is very possible that you have purchased a Canadian model, which is the cause of the message that you are getting.

Please contact one of Canon's Technical Support Representatives via phone or chat. To contact a Technical Support Representative, please use the link below to log into your My Canon account:

https://mycanon.usa.canon.com

Once logged in, click on your product and then the Get Service & Support button.
When that page loads, click on either the Phone Support button or the Chat Support button.
