MAXIFY MB2720 Unable to Register Printer

Just purchased a Maxify MB2720 Printer from Amazon.com and can't register the printer.  I have tried several times and keep getting this statement:

The serial number you have entered is invalid for one or more of the following reasons:

1) The serial number does not match the product you have selected (FCC ID which starts with “AZD” is often mistaken for serial number.)
2) The serial number entered indicates this product was not intended for sale in the United States and is ineligible for registration and support in the U.S.

Please verify your product model and serial number to ensure they were entered correctly.

Serial Number on the printer is AEWR#####

Hi, RetCMS76!  The letter portion of your printer's serial number, AEWR, corresponds to the Canadian version of the MAXIFY MB2720.  This model was meant for sale only in Canada and as such, its serial number won't be recognized if you're trying to register it with Canon USA.

If you're based in the United States, we recommend contacting your dealer to see if they can exchange it for one intended for sale in the USA.  If you're based in Canada, you'll want to register it via Canon Canada.
