PIXMA G7020: Black ink will not print

I have a G7000 Printer and my Black Ink Level is more than Half full but I cannot get the Black Color to print on a Nozzle Check. I have done a Cleaning, A Deep Cleaning and an Ink Flush and I cannot get the Black Ink to print. Can you tell me what if any options I have here. My printer is less than 2 years old.

I was able to resolve this issue when I remembered that I had some Piezo Flush in my garage that I used to use on my previous Epson Ink Jet Printer. I took out the Black Printhead from the Canon Printer and flushed the head three times. I let the Piezo Flush just sit in the Printhead for 30 minutes after the third flush and then used distilled water to flush out the solution. I filled my flush syringe with Air on multiple occasions and forced out any remaining solution/water and then I let the Printhead drain for several hours.

I then placed the flushed Printhead back in the printer and immediately performed an Ink Flush, a Head Alignment and a Nozzle Check in that order. My printer is now back to it's original capacity. Please note you will need to purchase a 20-30ml syringe that has a tip on it that will snugly fit your Printhead. Some experimentation may be necessary to find the correct syringe tip. Make sure you have some gloves and plenty of paper towels. Also note that there is some pressure buildup inside of the Printhead so be careful when you initially inject the solution into the Printhead. Take your time and you won't have a mess.

I just had the same thing happen to my less than 2 year old Pixma G7020 except that I would get error code 5200 when I tried to do the deep cleaning. Canon rep said I could try a new print head but it might not work and wouldn't be returnable or I could get a small discount on new printer.

I called back to ask an additional question and the 2nd rep wanted me to do another black ink flush then remove and put back the black print head. He said the "Start replacement" process empties the print head and could sometimes correct the problem. But we didn't get that far. After doing the black ink flush (which was the 4th time I had done it) I saw that the ink level had actually gone down, as it should have. Previously doing the ink flush didn't change the black ink level.

After that the nozzle check printed out fine and the printer was working normally again. So if the ink level in the tank doesn't actually go down when you do an ink flush, it isn't actually completing properly. Apparently if that happens you can try doing the ink flush multiple times until you see the ink level actually change in the tank. I'm sure it's situational, but in my case it resolved my print issues.
