How to stop PIXMA GX7120 from doing its maintenance cycle in the middle of the night

Printers need a "quiet at night" mode

Printers like the Canon GX7120 need to print regularly to avoid clogging print heads. If they haven't printed in 36 hours, they do a maintenance process for a minute or so. Our printer is located in our bedroom, however, and we really don't want it doing its thing in the middle of the night.

I wish it had a  setting to tell it to be quiet from 11pm-7am, even if it means doing its maintenance a few hours earlier than needed.

Hi bigclue,

While you cannot change the timing of the cleanings that your GX7120 performs automatically, you can schedule your printer to be turned off and then turned back on at specific times.  To do this, please follow these steps:

1.  Turn your MAXIFY GX7120 on.

2.  Tap the gear icon at the bottom of your printer's display.

3.  Tap Printer settings.

4.  Tap Power control.

5.  Tap Use scheduling.

You can then specify at which times you wish to have the printer turned off and back on automatically.

Some printers reset the head timer when a nozzle check is run, and a nozzle check doesn't use very much ink.

Maybe you can just run a check every day.
