G7020 Color Issues

Bought a lightly used G7020. I set it up today and proceeded to try to print. At first colors would not print at all. Did multiple cleanings and tried to do a deep clean but it would error out before completing. I did an ink flush and that got the color printing going again but the colors look washed out and the colors are off (what should be red looks more orange, etc.). After several more cleanings and a couple of successful deep cleanings, nothing had changed and I ended up doing another ink flush ( have wasted a ton of ink, I know). Colors still look washed out and off. Am I missing something?

Until you get a proper nozzle check print you cannot be sure of getting correct colors.

If repeated deep cleanings aren't resulting in a proper nozzle check there may be a print head problem.

The nozzle check looks fine to me. See picture.

Then you need to check your printing path. 

1. What software are you printing from?

 2. What are your settings? Can you post a screenshot of the printer dialogue?

3. Are you using Canon inks and Canon papers?

Download this test image. Open it in your photo software. Do not make any adjustments regardless of how it might look on your monitor. Print it. How does it look?

I was printing from a .pdf. I printed this from windows photo viewer... Everything looks vibrant on the screen but washed out when printed. What settings specifically do you want to see?

What kind of paper are you using?  Since it is a frequent problem, are you sure you are printing on the correct side?

Standard copy paper. Been in a drawer for a while but guessing probably 20lb copy paper. Definitely nothing fancy. I suspect the printer wasn't used for a while and likely wasn't prepared properly for shipping. I thought the ink flush would fix those issues and it did help it start printing in color, it's just not 100% right.

I tried that test image with my TR8600 printer. I used Microsoft Photos app. I get similar results on plain paper.

Can you upload a picture of what you printed?  I find it hard to believe that it should look this washed out just because of the paper used. Also, doesn't explain why something that should be red is printing out orange.

 Top is plain paper. Bottom Canon photo paper. Both printed from Windows Photos software.
