Canon PIXMA MX922 print head prints split vertical lines in print head alignment

I noticed that some of the letters that my printer is printing aren't clear. I ran the print head alignment and noticed that on the PGBK section the vertical lines become split about 2/3 of the way down and then come back together 2 squares up from the bottom. Is there any way to resolve this?

Thanks.

Hi,

Please click HERE for the steps to perform an encoder strip cleaning on your printer. After the cleaning is done, try printing again to see if the issue is resolved.

Hi, this actually made it worse. The split lines are now almost to the top and bottom. See the attached pic. Any suggestions? IMG_20230721_0001.jpg

Hi,

Since the encoder cleaning did not resolve the issue, the printer would require service.

If the printer is in it's 1 year warranty, I recommend reaching out to Canon support for your warranty options. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.

If the printer is out of warranty, you would qualify for the Canon Upgrade program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service or are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This program allows you the opportunity to purchase a replacement product discounted from the list price. Free ground shipping is included with your purchase.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Mon-Sat, 9 AM to 9pm EST excluding holidays.
