PIXMA MX470 Series driver availability for Windows 11

Hi.

I have a new ASUS Vivobook running on Windows11 and it is incompatable with my old MX470 printer which works perfectly on Windows10.

Canon no longer provides an updated driver for this printer. Is there anyway around this? I don't want to throw away a perfectly good printer.

According to this Canon site, this download for your printer series is compatible with Windows 11 it is worth a try I think.

https://canada-canon.my.site.com/customersupport/article/0100571501

and according to this article your printer should work with ARM based processors such as the Snapdragon.

Hi. Thank you for your help. The printer seems to have been recocgnised but will only Print to PDF. Very frustrating. Is there hope?

Greetings,

Canon does not currently provide drivers for PCs based on Snapdragon architecture.

If your computer is based on Intel or AMD architecture, Windows 10 drivers will likely work under W11.  Note that the installer for Intel and AMD will not run on an OS if it's based on Snapdragon architecture.

If your vivobook is based on Snapdragon architecture, you will need to use the second article referenced by my colleague.  Under Snapdragon , only native (basic) printer support is provided by Microsoft.

Also note the MX470 was released 11 years ago.  It's unlikely it will receive updates even if support under ARM architecture is provided across other printer models in the future.
