Can not scan with MF4770n. I am using a Mac OS 10.8.5 and using a USB cable.

The computer and the scan function do not connect with each other.    I can print but not scan.  Not sure what to do?

I followed your instructions and trashed the MF Toolbox, ScanGear , WMClibrary, WMCReg.plist, MFScanner.app, Canon MF4700 ds and Cannon MF4700 USB.ds.  

Emptyed the trash and restarted the computer.

Reinstalled ScanGear and still have the same problem.  The Software does not recognize the scanner.  

What next?

I had similar issues - what i did was install Scan Gear - once doing that - I went to the printer itself and clicked "Scan->Pc1" and followed the prompts - once it found my computer - I opened scan gear and then hit scan - and then it worked. Unfortunately I don't think the computer can talk with the printer when you want to scan - and will have to manually hit the but scan on the computer (or scan->Pc1) for it to work. After a few times - now when I just hit the scan button it recognizes that it is the computer I am connected to.
