After working well for four years, my LiDE 400 stopped in the middle of the scan and would not restart. Canon IJ Scan Utility Light v4.1.2 blinks up "please wait momentarily" and then never scans. MP Navigator EX 4.0 says "Cannot communicate with scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off. Check status. Scanner driver will be closed. 2.1.1"
I have tried the following on my iMac desktop computer:
- Changing USB ports
- Buying a new scanner USB cable
- Resetting the scanner by disconnecting from USB and moving lock/unlock button back and forth several times
- Rebooting computer
- Upgrading OS from MacOS 14 to Sequoia 15.2
The mechanism is at the correct (button) end.
When I press a button on the scanner, Canon IJ Scan Utility Lite *starts up* -- so it's receiving some communications from the device! -- but won't scan.
Ideas?

Hi eulalia,
The USB cable that shipped with the scanner looks like this:
Because the Mac does not have a port to accept this type of connection, an adapter is needed.
The adapter looks like this:
I experienced this same issue when I used a 3rd party adapter.
Are you using an adapter from Apple?
