Blank printing pages on MX922

Sharon55

First off I love this printer, and I’d really like to get it working.

Partway through a printing job it starting printing blank pages and I can’t not get it to print anything.  The job started out with perfect pages.

I have deep cleaned, removed and cleaned print head and have uninstalled/reinstalled the software and still nothing..not a drop of colour or black.  It scans perfect.

is this printer worth a trip to the repair experts, or is it reading for landfill?

appreciate any tips…I have spent hours trying to sort this.

Hi Sharon55! Thanks for posting in the Canon Community Forum. I see that the images you are printing with your MX922 are coming out blank.

When the colors or blank ink is missing from the page, it means that the nozzles for the inks are clogged. It is like trying to write with a pen that has a dry tip. No ink is coming out.

To start troubleshooting, I recommend that you print a nozzle check pattern to make sure all the inks are making it to the paper. Please follow the instructions for 1. Print the nozzle check pattern and 2. Examine the nozzle check pattern in the following article:

https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART143210

If the pattern comes out looking as it should, please write back. If the pattern is missing some of the colors (PGBK, C, M, Y, and BK), we recommend cleaning or deep cleaning the print head nozzles. It is best to start with a cleaning and print another pattern to see if the cleaning helped. If it does not help, you should wait 6 hours and then do a deep cleaning. While you are waiting, the fresh ink may soak through the clog and loosen it. You may have to do up to 3 deep cleanings (no less that 6 hours apart) before the clog clears.

The following articles have instructions for cleaning and deep cleaning the print head:

https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART143427

https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART143803

If cleaning and deep cleaning does not fix the issue, we recommend reseating the print head itself (which contains the nozzles). This is the part that fits below the ink cartridges. To reseat the print head, please tilt it up a little and lay it back down.

The following article has steps for reseating the print head:

https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART143853

You do not have to take the print head all the way out. Just tilt it towards you a little and drop it back down. If you do take the print head all the way out, please be sure to pay attention to how it slips out. That will make it easier for you to slide it back in. After the print head has been reseated, you can close the printer and then restart it.

If reseating the print head does not fix the printing issues, it may be more cost efficient to replace the printer than to pay for a repair.

I tried everything…I cleaned the print head by removing it and soaking it…let it dry for a couple days. Deep cleaning does nothing.

Weird that it was working fine one minute and printing nothing the next minute.
